What is Kies.exe?
Samsung Kies is a software application used to communicate between Windows PCs, Samsung mobile phone and tablet devices, usually using a USB cable connection (though wireless LAN Kies connectivity is now possible using some devices). Kies connectivity is via USB cable, wireless LAN connectivity between a Samsung device on which the Kies Wireless Android app is running, and any Windows PC running the Kies full version.
Overview
kies.exe executes as a process with the local user's privileges usually within the context of Windows Explorer. It is set to be run when the PC boots and the user logs into Windows (added to the Run registry key for the current user). It has been configured with a firewall exception which allows both inbound and outbound network communication without being blocked. It configures an autoplay handler withing explorer.exe named KiesCDOnArrival that will launch the program automatically. It is installed with a couple of know programs including Samsung Kies published by Samsung Electronics CO., LTD., Samsung Kies from Samsung Electronics CO., LTD. and Samsung Kies by Samsung Electronics CO., LTD..
