Logitech Desktop Messenger is a program that keeps Logitech product users up-to-date. It makes downloads of the latest patches, software updates and other information pertaining the user’s Logitech products available, whether it’s a mouse, a keyboard or other desktop peripherals such as Web cams, and informs the user of this availability. Installing Logitech Desktop Messenger is optional, and opting out of it won’t affect the functionality of the Logitech peripherals.

LogitechDesktopMessenger.exe executes as a process with the local user's privileges. During installation, it (or a shortcut) is added to the user's startup folder which is designed to automatically launch when the user logs into Windows. It has been configured with a firewall exception which allows both inbound and outbound network communication without being blocked.
