The Driver Helper Service is used in configuring a PC's GPU driver and provides the ability to override OpenGL refresh rates through via Control Panel in the display properties. It also provides functionality to manage the GPU's refresh rates via the built-in refresh forcer utility. It is called the 'NVIDIA Display Driver Service' in the Windows service controller.

nvvsvc.exe runs as a service under the name NVIDIA Display Driver Service (nvsvc) with extensive SYSTEM privileges (full administrator access). The assembly utilizes the .NET run-time framework (which is required to be installed on the PC). The file is digitally signed by NVIDIA Corporation which was issued by the VeriSign certificate authority (CA).
